Originally dubbed My Catholic Blog, it is now also known as My Faith and Life Blog as can be seen from the web address. You have landed on the welcome page! Do not be deceived by the date shown above. That merely tells you that this blog was first published in November 2021. Since then it has been going strong and steady with the most recent entry just below this one.
This blog is essentially a collection of essays, reflections, commentaries, and mixed media written and compiled by me, the author. Often, you will see a link to another article or post coming from another source. That is merely the content-backstory for the posts published here, and where such links appear, these do not comprise the entire content of each post.
The format btw, is the traditional scrolling reel format wherein you can get an overview of each article by scrolling down the page as the order is ascending by date posted with the newest article to be found at the top, and the oldest at the end of the entire scroll. Because the Welcome page is the “sticky” page, it always sits atop the most recent article.
If you would like to read articles in a seperate window, you may click on the title of the respective post (in-scroll) that you wish to focus on and you will be re-directed to that particular article’s own page. You can also access the articles which were posted just before or just after the one you are currently reading from the left button “previous” and right button “next” at the bottom of each page, and so you will notice that you can chronologically navigate to each prior article just by clicking on “previous article” and each subsequent article by clicking “next article”. However, these navigation options may not be available in all device modes. You may also find at the bottom of some posts are WordPress’s automated suggestions re: other “related themed” articles from this blog, again depending on whether you are using a desktop, tablet or phone. It must also be mentioned that because this sticky intro post you are currently reading was written in 2021 when this blog was first commissioned, you will find that the “previous article” and “next article” at the bottom of this page are posts from that same year and are therefore not the most recent posts published. To find the most recent additions, navigate on the home-scroller page (blog roll) to the articles just below this one.
Essentially, My Catholic Blog is a space where you can find heaps of interesting material about all things Catholic. Sometimes you will see stuff about things in the news and current affairs, (which are in the main, commentaries) while at other times there will be devotional and anecdotal snippets about faith and tradition as well as reflections on Scriptural themes accompanying life’s spiritual questions.
Being someone who is diligently seeking and praying where to take their student life to next within the fields of Theology & Philosophy, this blog is also for me an important avenue of intellectual and spiritual discernment and growth. It is my sincere hope that through reading it, you will benefit in a myriad of ways, that you will be truly blessed and enabled to grow & flourish in your own spiritual sojourn through life.
At all times the purpose of this blog is to bolster a greater awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the Catholic faith with a view to ironing out any misconceptions and pre-conceived notions which are not exactly an accurate reflection of our beloved faith tradition.
It is also my hope that the contributions I put forward here will actively stand in alignment with urgent reforms I consider to be necessary and viable due to the fact that tradition, as that historically rich and learned thing it is prized to be, evolves over time, and as such does not remain a stagnant feature of the Church’s life because it is always in the making, forged by the creative energy of the Spirit’s life flowing in and through those who shape it.
It must also be emphasized that I write all this in good will and welcome any response to my posts here so long as they are also coming from a sentiment of common human decency rather than hard-hearted reactivity to me as a person. It is all too frenquently encountered and tragically so, that much debate online about such issues is way too often tainted with unloving conjecture and a painful lack of human solidarity, a solidarity which should still be present in spite of the fact we may not necessarily agree or take the same position on an issue.
I welcome any questions you may have and will do my best to answer them according to both the dictates of my conscience and the extent of understanding I have currently about the issues raised.
ENJOY! 😄
