Reflection
Because Jesus is God, He doesn’t need to “go anywhere to learn anything”. He already knows EVERYTHING. So the whole issue about this erroneous idea that during the first 30 years of His life, Jesus went to India or Tibet to learn from Hindu and Buddhist teachings is nothing short of preposterous and absurd. Hence I couldn’t agree more with the stance Bishop José Ignacio Munilla takes on this, in the report from Catholic News Agency (CNA) cited above.
Okay, the Gospels detail nothing about the life of Jesus in between the time of His childhood following Him being found by His parents in the Temple with the Jewish teachers AND the time when He began His public ministry at the age of 30 years. But just because it tells us nothing, this silence is no licence to make up, what amounts to none other than heretical conspiracy theories about His hidden life.
Besides, even if Jesus did travel farther than His home turf, He still would not have to learn anything else from anyone because being God, He knows evetything already and that includes infinitely more than any of us ever have or ever can know, end of story.
